Welcome to my Website. I am a Dublin based, amateur photographer with a life long interest in photography. Like many folks, my interest and active involvement in photography has varied greatly over the years as I try to fit my hobby around life, work and a myriad of other distractions.
I have not published, nor indeed printed, any of my work for many years - my pictures are just for my own enjoyment - this web site is my way of sharing with anyone who is interested, nothing more.
My photographic interest pre dates digital and goes back to black and white film - developing and printing at home, and to the days of rich colour slide film and slide show projections at family gatherings.
In recent years I have a much renewed interest in this captivating hobby, with an appropriate investment in new Canon kit (I have always been a Canon person, going back to a Canon AE1). My core kit is a Canon 5D Mk2 with 17-40 and 24-105 plus 70-200 L series lenses, Canon Speedlite flash, Lee graduated Filters, Manfrotto Carbon Tripod. I also have a couple of excellent Canon Ixus compacts.
My photography philosophy is to capture the best possible images in the camera using knowledge, experience and the capabilities of the camera, with ideally, little or no use, of image processing software. Every picture has a value, no matter how "badly" taken.
One of life's great pleasures for me is a day outdoors, my kit bag on my back, walking shoes on and a trek to a favourite site to try and capture the infinitely variable magic of light, landscape and luck that nature presents.
Still learning every time I look through a lens.
